Voluntárias a recolher plástico nas dunas e o plástico transformado em solas na fábrica

THE PROJECT · 8 YEARS

We all came from the ocean

For eight years we have been collecting plastic from the Portuguese coast and turning it into vegan shoes, handmade in Portugal.

Zouri is a Portuguese eco-vegan footwear brand. We collect plastic from the beaches of the Portuguese coast and turn it into shoes, alongside ecological and plant-based materials.

It is not a special line or a one-off campaign. It is how every pair is made, from the sand where the plastic was picked up to the hands that stitch it in the north of Portugal.

ZOURI / THE TEAM

The people who make Zouri

Zouri was born from Adriana Mano's childhood dream: protecting the oceans. Before there was a company, there were years of research around a single question — how do you put plastic collected from beaches inside a shoe sole?

Today the answer is made by many hands, almost all of them Portuguese: the schools and associations that collect the plastic, the people who turn it into soles, the factory that stitches every pair and the team that gives it its look.

Small choices add up

We keep the value chain in Portugal, from the plastic picked up on the beach to the person who wears the pair. And the loop doesn't end there: at the end of their life, the shoes can come back to Zouri, be shredded and become a new product — and whoever returns them gets a discount.

“Small actions, small changes in behaviour, small choices can actually make a difference.”
